The 3D software developer made important developments steps mainly in two technology fields during the just ended business year 2011. Concerning Geo applications Bitmanagement now offers content creation especially for city models. In the mobile communication world the company’s core product “BS Contact” now supports modern mobile devices and all established operating systems. Also the number of public R & D projects, in which the company is involved, has been expanded by being invited to participate in the Open GIS project 3DPIE. “Not far from the end of fiscal year 2011 and the transition to 2012 our 10th year after flotation of Bitmanagement in 2002 - which brought us a nearly doubled sales - we are closing another successful business year. Therefore we could again assure and strengthen our position in the continuously growing global market of 3D applications”, notes Peter Schickel.
In May 2011 Bitmanagement and Kim Jung-Grüttner, founder and CEO of the former maila push GmbH, Darmstadt, Germany, became cooperation partners in the field of developing virtual 3D models and creating of cost saving high resolution content. Based on that cooperation Bitmanagement can continue address the real estate market, public institutions and game developers. In the main focus are buildings, housing blocks, turnkey cities and highways. “Especially with 3D portrayals of city development projects we can also contribute to more public participation”, says Peter Schickel.
In relation to the mobile communication market Bitmanagement has ported its BS Contact Rendering engine in C++ from Windows for Mac and Linux systems, as well as for Apple IOS devices (iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, iPad 1 and 2 and iPod). 3D applications which are based on 3D standards X3D and VRML of the Web 3D Consortium in the US already cover millions of apps. BS Contact Mac for instance show content in the safari browser with latest graphics tricks and speed, which is only seen on computer games. Since 2011 “BS Contact” is platform independent and loadable on all established internet browsers.
On its main markets for cross platform and cross browser the 3D engine “BS Contact” Bitmanagement has won as new customer the US based CAD solution provider Spatial Corp., Broomfield, Colorado.
The 3D software developer also has extended its research and development activities by joining the advanced international project “Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) 3DPIE”. The project name is “3D Portrayal Interoperability Experiment”. The target is to make a standard infrastructure for the portrayal of Geo data worldwide available.
Among the latest R & D projects in which Bitmanagement is also involved are projects like FINE “Free-viewpoint Immersive Networked Experience” for automatic creation of 3D models. (FINE is sponsored by the European Commission), as well as InterAR, which is sponsored by the German Ministry of Economic and Technology. This project is dedicated for developing a mobile platform for Augmented Reality (AR) for application scenarios and products, for instance for knowledge transfer.
