(openPR) On the occasion of the 125th Anniversary of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO), an international scientific congress is held in Freiburg, Germany, 18. – 22. September 2017. Under the motto “Interconnecting Forests, Science and People”, more than 2,000 scientists from about 90 countries will attend the congress.

Presentations are allocated to ten congress segments and address various aspects of forests and forestry. The official Opening Day is focusing on “Science in Dialogue” plenaries, featuring panelists from several major organizations as United Nations (UN), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Bank or World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF).
The International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) is an association of 700 forest research institutions from 110 countries and, as such, the largest and most important forest research network in the world. It is a non-profit organization open to individuals and organizations dedicated to forest and forest-related research. It represents more than 15,000 scientists worldwide who collaborate on a voluntary basis and address the main forestry themes.
The congress organization is a joint activity of the NFZ.forestnet, the collaborative network of the seven centers of forest research in Nancy, Freiburg and Zürich (http://www.nfz-forestnet.eu/).
