Singer-Songwriter Tabitha Elkins Announces New CD “Upside Down World” Set to Release this May

(openPR) Rock musician and songwriter schedules official release of new CD in May, featuring original songs and new version of viral YouTube hit, “Candyland”. The first single, "Edge of Nowhere" has already been released on CDBaby.com, Apple itunes and Spotify.

Former NYU music student Tabitha Elkins is heading back to her roots in her latest CD titled “Update Down World”. The album, which was originally scheduled to be released last year, has been in revisionary stages and will include a revised version of the popular single “Candyland”. The single made its initial debut on YouTube, quickly generating over 22,000 views with no outside promotion. The song subsequently captured the attention of various news sites, including Op Ed News.

Elkins explains the release date, “The CD was originally scheduled for last year, but as the songs became more and more complex, I had to delay the album's release to ensure it was perfect.”
The album is scheduled to be released sometime in May, 2016 and will be available on CD Baby, iTunes and Amazon for purchase.’Upside Down World’ was produced by rapper and producer Steffen Jurkat (AKA Qing Picasso) and will be released by indie record label Mind Guard Records.

Having written and arranged all of the songs, Elkins notes her album as a “quirky blend of various serious and not-so-serious themes”, including titles like "Captain Kirk" including the line"Beam me up, there's no intelligent life down here", while serious songs like, "Candyland" touch on war and propaganda.
The album will also features 60's influenced songs such as "Daisy Chain" and "I've Got Your Name Written On My Hand", as well as blues-driven soul such as "Edge of Nowhere" and "Gallows Pole Blues". These songs date back to her days living in New York when she used to compose blues, jazz and instrumental music.

"This album shows the many sides of my personality, including anger, hope and love. Each song comes from a different phase in my life and just like the old days of rock music–it’s authentic and sung from the heart,” adds Elkins.
