(openPR) Meteo towers and wind measurement systems from Ge:Net can be found all over the world – from Capetown to Kamchatka, even in difficult terrain and at remote sites. Now the company presents its range of products and services at the Eolica Expo Mediterranean from 14.09. to 16.09 2011 in Rome.
Ge:Net invites consultants, developers, investors and other interested audience to learn about the chances and challenges of wind measurement and why measure-ment matters so much when developing potential sites.
The company from Clausthal in Germany provides turnkey wind measurement solutions as well as individual components such as measuring systems, steel and aluminium lattice towers, tubular towers and mounting and maintenance services. All com-ponents are highly customized according to the customers needs.
The product range includes tubular and aluminium lattice towers up to a height of 85m, and steel lattice towers from 100m to 140m. The simple and robust construction enables Ge:Net to install their towers even under demanding conditions, in difficult terrain and at remote sites.

Über das Unternehmen
Ge:Net provides turnkey wind measurement solutions for the wind farming industry inclusive towers, measuring systems, installation and maintenance. Even remote aeas, difficult terrain/access and/or extreme weather conditions are no impediments for Ge:Net to install their meteo towers and deliver accurate data about wind potential on site.
Wherever the installation of a wind turbine or an entire wind farm is planned, precise information about the area’s wind potential is imperative not only to choose the most suitable turbines but also to calculate the expected energy yield as accurate as possible. Since the amount of energy generated by wind rises with the third square of the wind’s speed, even minor mistakes in estimating this speed have an extreme effect on the actual yield. Exact wind measurement directly on site can only be the answer.
Ge:Net has produced and delivered all-inclusive meteo towers providing towers, measurement systems as well as assembly and maintenance for the wind energy market since 2001. After Ge:Net had bought the various components for the completion of their meteo towers from other companies during the first years, the company developed its own modular tower system in 2006. Today, its range comprises tubular or lattice towers rising up to a height of 85 metres, and specific steel lattice towers up to a height of 140 metres.
Ge:Net measurement systems are equipped with high quality sensors produced by specialised, well known companies. The data logger recording the measuring data and transmitting them via GPRS, GSM or satellite, is exclusively programmed by Ge:Net. This enables the company to highly customize the equipment and to meet even most extraordinary require-ments.
Ge:Net has gained considerable expertise especially in installing and operating meteo towers in most challenging weather and terrainspecific conditions in the remotest regions on the globe. The measurement systems are robust and designed to work in extreme heat as well as cold and/or high wind speed. Particularly for the use in locations, where weather conditions are expected to cause ice-up, Ge:Net has developed an intelligent system to keep the sensors ice-free - the “Smart DeIcing”-system. In contrast to the conventional devices, this system recognises if a sensor is iced up or not and reacts automatically by operating a special heater only on demand and as long as necessary, so that energy can be saved, and problem-free running is guaranteed even without connection to a power supply system.
Safe assembly and reliable running of wind measurement installations that secure accurate data about wind potential particularly on difficult terrain and under extreme conditions has become a trademark of Ge:Net GmbH. And with ten years of experience and more than 270 successfully installed meteo towers worldwide to look back on, the company guarantees competence and quality of highest standards.
