(openPR) Festival producer C3 Presents once again uses ground cover and access gates from eps america
Last weekend Chicago’s Grant Park hosted 270,000 attendees and more than 130 music acts over three days as Lollapalooza celebrated its 20th birthday. eps supplied a range of infrastructure products to complete the set up for what would be a muddy and memorable festival.
The event sold out weeks prior, and security was heightened around the perimeter of the festival site. Each day 90,000 attendees were processed through 45 of eps’ FORIS security gates – including three wheelchair width lanes – positioned at the two public entry points. Fencing was attached on either end of the FORIS lines to complete access point security preparation. The strength of these access gates allowed a relatively small number of security staff to process each patron through ticket and bag check.
Perhaps the most crucial contribution to the weekend was the addition of eps ground cover – which created much needed walk and driveways as torrential rains transformed parts of park lawn into mud. 28,000 square feet of eps Arena Panel lay on the south field to make a clean path to the main stage. With the help of these aluminum panels, stage build up and break down could proceed despite heavy downpours and very difficult conditions.
Other areas received some help from eps’ ground cover as well. 2,800 square feet of Hexagon interlocking tiles formed a driveway for VIP golf cart shuttles; ensuring artists, crew, and guests could traverse the backstage areas even after rainstorms soaked the ground. The unique shape of these smaller panels enabled crews to build asymmetrical pathways over uneven terrain, and anti-slip tread provided additional footing in wet weather.
Also provided were eps’ flagpoles. Standing tall at 32 feet, they made for enhanced visibility as they directed visitors to restroom facilities across the expansive 115-acre site.
Once a traveling festival, Lollapalooza has called Chicago and Grant Park home since 2005. This year they hosted acts like Eminem, Muse, The Foo Fighters, Coldplay and Deadmau5.
