Hauptkern des Buches sind die Lokalisierung von Schallquellen im Raum, die Tiefenstaffelung, die Platzierung von Instrumenten im virtuellen Raum sowie deren technische Umsetzung mittels Musiksoftware. Das Buch basiert auf das bereits erschienene Werk „Das digitale Orchester“ und wurde um neue Details ergänzt. "The Composer's Approach Volume 1" wurde nun von CW Music herausgegeben und ist bereits über den europäischen Buchhandel erhältlich (ISBN 9783837084535). Die internationale Verfügbarkeit ist auf Anfang Februar datiert.
